About
Kath Gadd Landscape Design specialises in creating modern native gardens using exclusively Australian plants.
Kath Gadd Landscape Design (KGLD) is a landscape practice based in the Illawarra on Dharawal Land. It is a sister business to Mallee Design, a native plant and design resource founded by Kath in the early 2010’s. KGLD has been created to focus solely on landscape design.
Kath possesses a creative and curious mind which is combined with extensive plant and horticultural knowledge. She has been working in the Landscape Design industry since 2004 and is still entranced by the beauty and resilience of our Australian Flora and Fauna.
Her main area of horticultural expertise comes from an extended working knowledge of Australian native plants and formal study in Landscape Design, Horticulture, Conservation Land Management and Permaculture.
Kath is passionate about promoting the use of our indigenous plants in the Landscape Design industry by writing articles and publishing photos for magazines, journals and books and is driven to green our urban environment as much as possible by inspiring others.
Kath grew up in Tasmania where her deep love of the bush was fostered through a childhood of bushwalking, wildlife conservation and helping in her parents native gardens.
Kath Gadd Landscape Design creates site specific gardens which are harmonious, intimate and calming, where each plant plays an important role in the overall landscape. Her gardens are designed not only for the clients but for the wildlife, both already onsite and whom may seasonally visit the garden. They are places of respite for humans and animals and intend to play a small part in greening our urban environment. Kath believes that gardening is a pleasurable and creative pursuit not a chore and her clients tend to be already gardeners or people interested in connecting with nature through the intrinsic act of getting their hands dirty and watching their garden grow.
