The brief for this garden was to design a  modern native garden to surround the newly extended and updated beach cottage, designed by  Alex Urena Design Studio. Traditional lines towards the street play homage to Bulli’s original miners cottages and a group of raised Corten planters have been positioned to give light privacy to the street. Two light wells within the house have been planted with native shrubs and grasses to give views from within but also to screen from neighbours. The rear garden is a simple layout with mixed native screening shrubs on the boundaries. The house has plenty of planting pockets built into the facade, on both the roof and walls, which allow for playful planting to soften the built form.
