This steeply sloped rear garden in the northern beach suburbs of Sydney was unusable. A large pine tree dominated the rear corner and the local species Eucalyptus robusta was struggling underneath. Decked platforms around the bases of the trees were designed to include more level open hangout space and then then garden beds were created using sandstone boulders to retain the soil.
A level granite pathway leads to the decked platform on the high side of the garden, the pine tree was later removed making space for outdoor dining and the remaining Eucalyptus to shine. The garden is a wonderful play space, with plenty of rock hoping and hidey holes and  now spending time in the garden is an integral part of everyday life for the clients.
